Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 has taken the top spot in the UK this Christmas, according to the UK Interactive (Ukie) Games Charts.
“The success of the global hit cinematic Western, a significant part of which was made in the UK, shows that UK consumer demand for immersive stories and interactive entertainment continues to grow, and reflects the continued health and talent of the UK games and interactive entertainment industry in a global industry,” reads the release.
While boasting a lengthy, immersive campaign, Red Dead Redemption 2 also recently released its online mode. This addition contains an in-depth character creator and enables you to explore the Wild West with friends.
This should come as little surprise considering that Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar’s most recent title before Red Dead Redemption 2, is the most profitable piece of entertainment in history. The games industry widely considers each one of Rockstar’s products as a masterpiece. In fact, GTA V still tops monthly sales charts often despite the game having come out in 2013. Of course, Rockstar’s ports to current-gen in 2014 and PC in 2015, definitely help.
